DEAF EDUCATION

National Week of Deaf People
Our Deaf students taught Auslan greeting signs to share their language on the first day of celebrations at BCC. It was a great turnout.
Day two of our week of celebrations here at BCC! Our Deaf students hosted a delicious morning tea for staff and gave teachers a chance to try out their Auslan.
On Wednesday our Deaf Education students visited the ‘House on the Hill’ to learn the history of when it was a boarding school for Deaf students. They enjoyed stories from Deaf people who were students there in the 1940’s and chatted with Deaf people of many generations.
Day four and our activity was an ‘Auslan Essentials’ lesson. A great inclusive environment with Deaf and hearing students communicating with each other in Auslan.
A fantastic turnout for our final day of celebrations today! Our Deaf students ran a ‘guess the animal sign’ quiz. Congratulations to Jeannine our student winner and Ms Saunders, taking out the top score for the teachers!
