Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

ENROL

Belmont City College is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) school with Wi-Fi connectivity.

The purpose of the BYOD program is to provide students with greater access to computers and will complement the school computer resources already available at the college.

Prior to connecting their devices to the network, students must return a Student BYOD Agreement. This agreement must be signed by the student and by a parent/guardian. It is important to ensure that students are aware of and agree to their obligations under both this document and the BYOD Agreement, prior to using their own device on the school network. Parents/Guardians should retain a copy of the BYOD agreement.

Students are responsible for the care, transport, use and storage of their device at all times. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Adhering to the BYOD Student Agreement
  • Labelling their device for identification purposes
  • Ensuring the device is safe and secure during travel to and from school and throughout the school day
  • Maintaining up-to-date anti-virus software and operating system on their device
  • Bringing their device to school fully charged each day. The school is not responsible for providing facilities for students to charge their devices
  • Saving and backing up their schoolwork
  • Seek permission from their teacher before connecting their device to any school-owned equipment (e.g. printer)
  • Belmont City College takes no responsibility for stolen, lost, or damaged devices, including lost or corrupted data on those devices.
  • We strongly recommend all parents purchase a tough case to protect their child’s device from damage.
  • We strongly recommend all parents take out theft and accidental damage insurance. Parents may be able to add their child’s BYOD device as a portable item to their home contents insurance.
  • We strongly recommend all parents purchase an extended warranty when purchasing a device.

The school will limit technical support to providing assistance with:

  • Connecting to the school wireless and internet
  • Installing School Software
