Technologies

LEARNING

Technologies involve the design and production of innovative and creative products to satisfy human needs and wants.

Enterprise relates to the development and application of skills and attitudes that enable people to actively respond to and be involved in social and economic change.

The Technologies Learning Area is a highly practical area in which students are encouraged to express themselves and develop skills in decision making and problem solving through the media of foods, textiles, wood, metal, information and digital technologies. It provides students with opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills in a practical and enterprising way, using a variety of resources and materials. This is achieved through two disciplines:

  1.  Design Technologies
    • Design and Technology
    • Home Economics
  2.  Digital Technologies

The College has modern, specialist facilities across all disciplines in order to provide students with the widest possible learning experience. In keeping with the curriculum direction and focus, we aim to raise student awareness towards the environment we live in, as well as their production environment, while developing a strong work ethic and responsible behaviour.

All Technologies programs are delivered in a safety conscious, supportive environment where students learn to work both independently and as part of a team assisting and respecting each other.
