School Attendance Procedures

ENROL

Attendance

Verification of student absence is a government requirement. It is imperative that parents make contact with the College or reply to the Short Message Service (SMS/text) received from Student Services on a daily basis.

An SMS will be sent during the school day if a student has been marked present earlier and fails to attend a timetabled class.

Parents are reminded to call the school, use the absentee messaging service or email to contact the College prior to school commencing, to inform if their child/ren will be absent.

Administration

If a student feels unwell while at school, they must first present to the Front Office Reception and a parent/guardian will be contacted. Students are not encouraged to call or SMS home and make arrangements for pick-up as direct permission must be obtained by a member of staff prior to their release.

If a student needs to be collected during the day, s/he must have a note from a legal guardian to be released from class. They report to the Attendance Officer to sign out and can then go to the Front Office to await collection.

If walking, driving or catching public transport, this also needs to be stated in the note handed to the Attendance Officer.

Alternatively, the College can be advised by SMS or phone call of any upcoming appointments.
