COVID-19 Parent Information Update 3

Dear Parent/Carer

The Australian Government has announced that all organised, non-essential mass gatherings attended by more than 500 people must be cancelled from Monday 16 March 2020.

The announcement was very clear that there is no need for school closures. However, schools should now review their schedule of activities.

In response to this announcement we will be staggering the release of students for recess commencing tomorrow Tuesday 17 March 2020 as follows:

  1. Years 7, 8 and 9 students will break for recess at 10:40am. Years 10, 11 and 12 students will remain in class until the siren sounds for the end of period 2.
  2. Years 10, 11 and 12 students will break for lunch at 1:15pm. Years 7, 8 and 9 students will remain in class until the siren sounds for the end of period 4.

These changes will be managed by a PA announcement for the early release.

There will be an announcement tomorrow morning reminding students about safe hygiene practice. Please reinforce these messages with your child.

How to minimise the spread of COVID-19

  • Frequently washing your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, or using an alcohol based hand gel
  • Refraining from touching mouth and nose
  • If coughing or sneezing, covering your nose and mouth with a paper tissue or flexed elbow
  • Dispose of the tissue immediately after use and perform hand hygiene
  • Avoiding close contact with anyone if you, or they, have a cold or flu-like symptoms (maintain a distance of at least 1 metre).

Further to this, the activity room and Year 12 common room will  be closed during recess and lunch in an effort to maintain social distance.

Yours sincerely,

Darrel Le Mercier
Principal
