Follow The Dream Program

PROGRAMS

Follow the Dream (FTD) is a voluntary program for high achieving Aboriginal secondary school students.

The program assists and supports students to continue to succeed at school, graduate and successfully transition into university, training or meaningful employment.

“Academic, personal and cultural excellence”

is our motto in the Belmont City College FTD Program.

With a focus on goal setting, pathway planning and meaningful reflection on progress and achievement, all students enrolled in the program develop individualised learning plans that aspire to excellence.

Located on traditional Whadjuk Noongar land, our FTD Program supports Aboriginal students in years 7 to 12 attending Belmont City College, Como Secondary College and Kent Street Senior High School.  Each student commits to a target of attending 30 hours of after school tutoring per term and maintaining school attendance of over 90%.  A focus on both ATAR and VET pathways allows for specialised tuition matched to each student’s needs.

In recent years, 100% of year 12 students enrolled in the Belmont City College FTD Program have successfully graduated with their Western Australian Certificate of Education. Further, these students have received school awards for learning area excellence and citizenship, City of Belmont awards, and WA Department of Education awards.

At Belmont FTD we enrol families too; we encourage two-way communication between the coordinator and families, ensuring the personal wellbeing and academic goals of each student are nourished.  Belmont City College FTD is proud to be partnered with BHP since 2003.
