The Department of Education-endorsed Specialist Contemporary Drama Program provides talented and passionate young performers with the opportunity to learn and perform in Belmont City College’s state-of-the-art performance facilities.
Our thriving Drama Department is housed within a multi-million-dollar creative building, featuring the newly built Bilya Theatre, a purpose-built black box theatre, one large dance studio, an outdoor amphitheatre, and extensive backstage, lighting and technical facilities. This dynamic environment allows students to develop their skills as performers while building confidence, creativity and communication skills that will benefit them for life.

In upper school, students may continue their studies through General or ATAR pathways, allowing them to tailor their drama education to individual goals, aspirations, and interests. Our specialised program provides a high-quality performing arts education that develops confident, creative and critically minded performers.
The program has produced a number of successful graduates who have gone on to study at prestigious institutions including WAAPA and NIDA, and continues to be recognised as one of the leading drama programs in Western Australian public schools.

Primary Schools Festival
A professional experience involving a two-week performance season where students perform for over 3,000 primary school students from across the local community.
Youth Choices Collaboration
A partnership between professional actors from Youth Choices and the City of Belmont, exploring important issues relevant to young people through performance.
Masterclass Program
Extension classes for selected senior students focusing on advanced performance techniques and the work of contemporary theatre practitioners.
